'Botanical & Mixed Media Blends'
My work is a celebration of nature's fleeting beauty, crafted on an ever-changing canvas.
I invite conversations with bees wax and nature.
I am an encaustic artist whose mini landscape bud vases explore the relationship between memory, place, and the natural world. Inspired by the Forest of Dean and the subtle shifts of colour throughout the seasons, my work reflects the changing light, erosion, and quiet transformation found in nature. The shifting colours, temperatures, and atmosphere, shape the way I build and layers wax, translating these quiet transformations into tactile objects that feel both intimate and enduring.
Each bud vase becomes a personal keepsake, a miniature landscape that holds a moment in time, inviting reflection and connection. Both functional and contemplative, my vases are designed to hold a single stem or remain as stand-alone objects, bringing a sense of calm, nature, and timelessness into the home.
Wax is also associated with a 16th Wedding Anniversary, so sealing an anniversary poem or a love quote in wax, allows me to become personally and emotionally involved. These mementos, including heartfelt quotes and emotions, are captured, sealed, and are only unveiled when there is a desire to do so, making them unique gifts. These waxed expressions become your very own personal ‘message in a bottle’.
My paintings are a mix of varying styles; mark making, mono-printing, eco printing, oils, acrylics, incorporating ephemera and tea bag art, to bring depth and movement. My aim is to bring texture to express how I see my surroundings. Each piece invites a closer look, revealing hidden layers of colour, mark making and meaning. Blending organic textures, botanical elements and layered pigments, creating art that feels ethereal with timeless elegance.
Using an age-old photographic process, called cyanotypes, I bring unique botanical prints and elegant jewellery, using the power of the sun with botanical plant material. By producing one-of-a-kind impressions, these are not merely visual; they are tactile and evocative. The intricate veins of a leaf, or the soft curves of petals are preserved in breathtaking detail, a testament to nature's artistry. My creative mixed media art is expressed in many forms, with the use of recycled ephemera, botanical mono printing, art journals and textural wax paintings - all of which allows me to express myself.
